Previously: When six-year-old Mia burst into the courtroom claiming she had proof of her father's innocence, the entire room fell silent. But what was on her pink recorder would change the trial forever.

The Double Betrayal

The prosecutor immediately objected, claiming a child's toy was inadmissible as evidence. However, Judge Sarah raised her hand to silence the room. She looked down at Mia, her expression softening. "Where did you get that, sweetheart?" she asked gently. Mia explained that her father had hidden the pink recorder inside her favorite teddy bear on the night he died, telling her to keep it safe from Diane.

Sensing the tide turning, Diane’s defense team tried to block the recording, but Judge Sarah was resolute. She called recess and took the device into her chambers to verify the audio. Outside, Caleb sat in agony, watching Diane nervously pacing near the exit, blocked by alert court officers. When the judge returned ten minutes later, her face was set in stone.

"Play the audio," Judge Sarah commanded the court clerk.

The static hiss of the recording filled the tense room. Suddenly, Robert’s voice echoed through the speakers, sounding panicked. He was accusing Diane of embezzling millions from their company. Then, Diane's voice came through, cold and venomous, threatening him if he didn't sign a non-disclosure agreement. The sounds of a violent struggle followed, ending with Robert's desperate scream as he fell.

But the horror didn't stop there. The recording kept running after the fall. Another voice emerged on the tape, discussing how to clean up the crime scene and frame Caleb. Caleb gasped as he recognized the voice instantly. It belonged to Arthur Vance—his own defense attorney.

"We make sure Caleb takes the fall," Arthur’s recorded voice said. "I'll handle his defense and make sure he gets convicted."

The courtroom erupted into pure pandemonium. Arthur froze, his face turning an ashen gray as bailiffs moved to block his escape, while Diane screamed in denial.
