The Fall of a Dynasty

Charles stumbled backward, his face completely devoid of color. "That’s a lie! You can't prove any of this!" he shrieked, looking desperately around the room for an ally. But his wealthy friends quickly turned their backs, refusing to make eye contact with a man exposed as a thief and a fraud.

Admiral Vance stepped closer to Charles, his presence imposing. "You stripped her of her dignity tonight, but you will never strip her of her honor. The contract with your firm is officially terminated. You are ruined."

Two uniformed police officers entered the ballroom, their handcuffs metallic and loud in the quiet room. They walked straight to Charles, grabbing his arms and securing the cuffs behind his back. True strength cannot be hidden by fabric, nor can it be tarnished by the cruelty of those who are weak of character.
