My Arrogant Cousin Mocked My Quiet Husband—Then Her Spouse Bowed to Him in Terror
Previously: When my wealthy cousin Victoria saw my husband Arthur in a plain white shirt, she couldn't resist mocking his modest look. But her smug smile vanished when her own husband fell to his knees.
The True Measure of Wealth
Victoria stood tall, a triumphant sneer returning to her face as she waited for Evelyn to crumble. She fully expected her cousin to beg for silence. But before Evelyn could utter a single word, Arthur stepped forward, gently placing a protective arm around his wife's shoulders. His gaze fixed on Victoria, cold and razor-sharp.
“You refer to the fifty-thousand-dollar loan Evelyn took from a private lender to fund her father’s heart surgery,” Arthur said, his voice echoing clearly in the quiet garden.
Victoria froze, her eyes widening. “You... you knew?” she whispered.

“Of course I knew,” Arthur replied, a small, proud smile touching his lips as he looked at Evelyn. “In fact, I was the anonymous investor who bought out that debt and wiped the record clean. I did it because I saw a young woman who was willing to sacrifice everything to save her father. That was the day I fell in love with her. Her selflessness is something your wealth could never buy.”
A collective gasp whispered through the crowd of onlookers. Victoria’s face drained of all color once more, her ultimate weapon neutralized. She stood completely exposed, her malice laid bare for all of high society to see.
Arthur turned his attention to Charles, who was now visibly shaking. “Charles, your wife’s behavior is a reflection of your household’s values. I cannot have someone representing my company who condones such arrogance and malice. You are relieved of your duties at Sterling Enterprises, effective immediately.”
Charles collapsed onto a nearby bench, his head in his hands, realizing his career was over. Victoria tried to speak, but the surrounding guests turned their backs on her, whispering in disgust. Evelyn looked up at Arthur, her heart full of gratitude and love. She realized that true wealth was never about the diamonds around one's neck, but the gold in one's heart.
