My Brother Destroyed Our Mother’s Table in a Rage, Uncovering a Fifty-Year-Old Lie
Previously: When Richard flew into a violent rage and smashed our mother's antique dining table, he thought he was punishing her. Instead, the splintered wood revealed a secret she had hidden for decades.
A Father's Judgment
Amanda hurried to the front door, her heart hammering against her ribs. When she pulled it open, she gasped. Standing on the porch was Thomas Vance himself. Though elderly and leaning on a silver-headed cane, his presence was commanding. He didn't wait for an invitation; he stepped past Amanda and walked straight into the ruined dining room, his eyes taking in the shattered table and the weeping Margaret.
Richard stared at the man, then down at the letters, the sudden realization hitting him like a physical blow. "You're my father," Richard breathed, stepping toward the wealthy patriarch. "She kept me from you. She kept your money from me!"

Thomas Vance looked at Richard, his expression cold and unimpressed. He glanced at the broken wood on the floor, then at Margaret, who was still trembling in Amanda's arms. Thomas let out a long, weary sigh.
"I didn't want to believe it when my investigators told me how you treated your mother, Richard," Thomas said, his voice dripping with disappointment. "But seeing this... seeing what you've done to her, I know they were right."
Thomas explained that Margaret had hidden the money not out of greed, but because Thomas’s own ruthless family had threatened to ruin her life and take Richard away if the truth ever came out. She had sacrificed her own happiness and lived in modesty to protect her son from a family of wolves. Thomas had come today, knowing his own life was nearing its end, intending to finally embrace his son and hand over the trust.
"But a man who would lay hands on his mother does not deserve my name, nor my legacy," Thomas declared firmly. "The trust fund will be legally transferred to Margaret and Amanda. You, Richard, will not receive a single dime."
Richard stood frozen, the papers slipping from his hand as the reality of his greed-fueled downfall washed over him. In trying to destroy his mother's home, he had shattered his own future, proving that the most valuable treasures are not hidden in secret compartments, but in the love and respect we show to those who raised us.
