Previously: When Commander Robert ordered Officer Emily to remove her uniform jacket, he expected a minor infraction. Instead, a secret tattoo revealed a heartbreaking truth about his lost brother.

The Ghost of Operation Red Dusk

The heavy wooden door of the Commander's office slammed shut, cutting off the ambient noise of the military base. Robert marched behind his desk, his chest heaving as he tried to process the shock. He turned to Emily, his eyes burning with a volatile mix of grief and fury.

"My younger brother, Leo Miller, designed that exact howling wolf," Robert growled, slamming his fist onto the desk. "He was a scout in the special forces. Three years ago, his unit was ambushed during Operation Red Dusk. He went missing in action, presumed dead. He drew that design for me the night before he deployed. How do you have it?"

Emily took a slow, deep breath, reaching into her pocket. She pulled out a worn silver chain holding two sets of dog tags. She held them out to him. One set belonged to her; the other bore the name Leo Miller.

"I didn't steal it, Commander," Emily said softly. "Leo drew it on my shoulder himself. We were engaged to be married. We kept it secret because of fraternization regulations."

Robert stared at his brother's dog tags, his hands trembling. But as the shock subsided, a dark, bitter realization washed over his face. He looked up at Emily, his expression hardening into pure hatred.

"You," Robert whispered, his voice laced with venom. "You are the anonymous survivor of Operation Red Dusk. The one the military brass protected. My brother stayed behind to fight, and you ran away. You left him to die in those mountains while you saved your own skin!"

Emily winced, the accusation cutting deeper than any physical wound. "Sir, that is not what happened—"

"Silence!" Robert roared, stepping closer. "You are a coward, Vance. You wore my brother's love like a shield while you abandoned him. I will personally see to it that you are court-martialed and stripped of your rank. You do not deserve to wear that uniform."

You do not deserve to wear that uniform."
