My Cousin Ridiculed My Quiet Husband, Until Her Wealthy Spouse Bowed Before Him
Previously: When Victoria tried to humiliate Clara at an upscale wedding by boasting about her husband's immense wealth, she had no idea Clara's quiet husband held the keys to their entire future.
The Price of Pride
The garden erupted into hushed chatter as the truth laid bare. Victoria stared at Charles, her world crumbling around her. The grand illusion of her perfect, wealthy life had shattered in a matter of seconds, right in front of the family she had spent years trying to humiliate. She began to cry, the tears ruining her expensive makeup as she realized they were ruined.
Charles fell to his knees, looking up at Arthur with pleading eyes. "Please, Mr. Vance," he begged, his voice cracking. "I only did it to keep up appearances. If you press charges, I'll go to prison. My family will have nothing. Please, have mercy."

I looked at Arthur, wondering what he would do. Though he was incredibly powerful, I knew his heart. He didn't believe in senseless destruction, but he did believe in accountability. He looked down at Charles, then at Victoria, who was now trembling with shame.
"I won't send you to prison, Charles," Arthur said quietly, causing a gasp of relief from the couple. "But there will be no more lies. You will sell this estate, your luxury cars, and yes, that diamond necklace, to pay back every penny you took. I will place you in a junior management position at one of our branches. You will earn an honest living, and you will learn the value of hard work."
Victoria looked at me, her eyes filled with tears, but for the first time in her life, there was no malice in them. She nodded slowly, accepting the lifeline my husband had thrown them. She realized that the cousin she had mocked was the only one standing between her family and absolute ruin.
As we walked back to our car, Arthur took my hand, his grip warm and reassuring. I smiled, realizing that true wealth isn't measured by the diamonds around your neck, but by the integrity in your heart and the quiet strength of the person standing beside you.
