Previously: When Julianne's abusive husband Richard cornered her in their luxury estate, he thought he controlled everything. But a hidden panic button and a loyal security team were about to turn the tables completely.

The Final Move

For a brief second, my heart stopped. Richard’s blackmail was a devastating blow, and he stood there gloating, convinced he had regained absolute control. He believed he had successfully trapped me once again. But as I looked at the folder on the table, I didn't cry. Instead, I let out a soft, mocking laugh.

Richard's smirk faltered. "What's so funny?" he snapped, his voice cracking with sudden anxiety.

I looked him dead in the eye. "You always thought you were the smartest man in the room, Richard. But you forgot one thing. Marcus didn't just buy your security company—he hacked your private servers weeks ago."

I nodded to the lead guard, who pulled out a tablet and pressed play on a video file. The screen showed crystal-clear footage of Richard inside his private study, forging the very offshore documents he was now trying to use as blackmail. Furthermore, the data showed his own massive embezzlement scheme from his charity foundation.

"We didn't just come to protect me, Richard," I said, my voice ringing with absolute authority. "We came to collect the final pieces of evidence. The police are already outside."

As if on cue, red and blue lights began flashing through the grand stained-glass windows of our foyer. The heavy wooden doors were pushed open, and federal agents poured into the dining room. Richard staggered backward, his face completely pale as the lead guard handed the tablet and the physical folder to the arresting officers.

As they handcuffed Richard and led him away in his ruined tuxedo, he screamed my name, but I didn't look back. I stood in my white satin robe, finally feeling the warmth of true freedom. I had survived the golden cage, and in the end, the truth had set me free.
