My Cruel Step-Sister Mocked My Crutches, But Her Fiance Recognized My Gold Chain
Previously: When Olivia collapsed in a crowded mall, her cruel step-sister only sneered. But the handsome stranger who knelt to help her saw a gold chain that changed everything.
The Web of Lies Unravels
The air in the bustling mall grew thick with tension as the crowd began to gather, sensing the high stakes of the confrontation. Victoria’s face flushed a deep crimson, her composure completely shattering. She grabbed Marcus’s arm, trying to pull him away from the dirty floor.
"Marcus, stop this nonsense right now!" Victoria hissed, her voice rising in panic. "This girl is a pathological liar! She probably stole that cheap necklace. We have a dinner reservation with my mother, let's go!"
But Marcus—or Daniel, as Olivia knew him—stood up slowly, shaking off Victoria's grip with effortless strength. He held the gold chain in his palm, his eyes locked onto Olivia’s tear-stained face. He reached into his collar and pulled out a matching gold chain from beneath his shirt. At the end of it hung the other half of the broken heart pendant. They fit together perfectly.

"I've carried my half for fifteen years, believing my sister was dead," Daniel said, his voice trembling with a mixture of grief and rage. He turned his piercing gaze toward Victoria. "Your mother told me Olivia died in the car crash that killed our mother. She told me there was nothing left for me here, which is why I took my inheritance and left the state."
Olivia gasped, the horrifying truth clicking into place. After Daniel had run away as a teenager to escape their abusive stepfather, their stepmother had systematically blocked all communication, eventually telling Daniel that Olivia had perished in the accident to ensure he would never return to claim his share of the family estate.
"You knew," Olivia whispered, looking at Victoria. "You and your mother lied to him so you could keep everything!"
Victoria stumbled backward, her eyes darting around the mall as onlookers began whispering. "That's not true! Marcus, she's trying to ruin us! I love you, we're supposed to get married next month!" she cried, desperate to salvage her golden ticket.
