Previously: When Laura’s wealthy father-in-law forced the hospital to withdraw treatment from her newborn baby, her seven-year-old son Ethan slipped into the NICU, triggering a miracle that exposed a dark family conspiracy.

A Cold-Hearted Confrontation

The joy in the room was abruptly shattered when the heavy double doors of the NICU swung open once more. Charles, the powerful patriarch of the family, walked in with a cold, calculated stride. Behind him came two high-priced corporate lawyers, carrying leather briefcases. Charles’s eyes narrowed as he looked at the active heart monitor, his face twisting in annoyance rather than relief.

"What is the meaning of this?"
Charles demanded, his booming voice echoing in the quiet ward.
"I made it very clear to the hospital board. This treatment was supposed to be terminated. We are not wasting family resources on a child who will not carry on our legacy."

Robert broke through the glass partition doors, confronting his father face-to-face. "He's alive, Dad! Did you hear the doctor? He survived the flatline! How can you stand there and talk about resources when your own grandson is fighting for his life?" Robert’s voice shook with a lifetime of repressed anger.

Charles sneered, completely unmoved by his son’s grief. He signaled to one of his lawyers, who pulled out a notarized document.

"I have a court-ordered medical proxy,"
Charles stated coldly.
"Because of the financial trust structure, I hold the ultimate decision-making power over this child's care. If this hospital continues to administer unauthorized treatment, I will withdraw all funding and sue every doctor involved for malpractice."

Laura rushed to her husband's side, tears of rage in her eyes. "You are a monster, Charles," she whispered. "You fabricated a lie about my baby’s paternity just to try and force us apart. And now you’re trying to murder him!" But Charles only smiled, confident that his money and lawyers had won the battle. He turned to Dr. Bennett, demanding that the life-support machines be shut off immediately. However, young Ethan was still standing by the bassinet, holding a small, black device.
