Previously: When Amanda fell from her chair at her own wedding, her groom didn't help her—he laughed. Little did he and his wealthy mother know, Amanda's lawyer was already at the door.

The Tables Turn

The laughter in the room died instantly. Elizabeth scoffed, crossing her arms defensively. "A lawyer? At a wedding reception? Don't be ridiculous, Amanda. You are making a scene over a simple slip," she snapped, trying to maintain her composure.

But Charles, the seasoned attorney, didn't flinch. He placed his briefcase on the table, popped the brass latches, and pulled out a thick stack of legal documents. He looked directly at Matthew and Elizabeth, his expression completely serious.

"I am here to serve formal notice of a forensic audit and a freeze on all assets tied to the Sterling Family Trust," Charles announced, his voice echoing through the silent hall.

Matthew’s face drained of color. "What are you talking about? That's our family trust! Amanda has nothing to do with it," he stammered, looking frantically between his mother and the lawyer.

Before the wedding, Elizabeth had forced Amanda to sign a strict prenuptial agreement, ensuring she would get nothing in a divorce. What Elizabeth didn't know was that Amanda’s late father had been a founding partner of the investment firm managing that very trust. Amanda had inherited his shares and his sharp eye for detail. When she handed the prenup to Charles, they decided to look into the Sterling family's actual financial health.

What they discovered was a massive web of deceit. Elizabeth and Matthew had been embezzling millions from the trust to fund their lavish lifestyle, and they had been using Amanda’s late father’s estate assets as collateral to cover up their growing debts. The marriage wasn't about love; it was a desperate attempt to merge the estates and permanently hide their financial crimes.

"Your debts are fully exposed, Elizabeth," Charles said. "And the police are already waiting outside to discuss the fraudulent loans you took out using Amanda's father's forged signature."
