Before you married Sarah, I placed her personal trust into an irrevocable protective trust that requires my co-signature for any changes. You cannot touch a single cent of her money."

Thomas's face drained of color. The paper in his hand suddenly felt like a death warrant. Victoria backed away from her brother, realizing his downfall was absolute and she needed to save herself.

"And as for the custody of my grandchild," Charles added, his voice hardening, "these men with me are not just bodyguards. They are off-duty detectives. You are under arrest for domestic assault and extortion."

Before Thomas could run, the detectives moved in, pinning him to the ground and placing him in handcuffs. As they dragged him away, screaming in vain, Victoria quietly slipped out of the room, knowing she had lost her place in the family forever.
