My Husband Slept With My Best Friend, but My Grandfather's Will Saved Me
Previously: When Chloe caught her best friend Sarah in her bed, she thought her life was over. But a hidden document from her late grandfather changed everything.
The Sweet Taste of Justice
I spent the night in a cheap roadside motel, shivering under thin sheets, staring at the ceiling. But as the darkness gave way to the pale light of dawn, my despair transformed into a burning, calculating resolve. I remembered something Mark had completely overlooked. My grandfather, a brilliant and highly suspicious retired judge, had never trusted Mark. Before he passed away, he had given me a sealed envelope with a strict instruction: "Keep this safe, Chloe. If Mark ever tries to take what is yours, open it."
I tore open my suitcase, found the envelope hidden in the false bottom, and read the document inside. It was a legally binding covenant attached to the original deed of the house. It stated that the property could never be sold, transferred, or placed into any trust without the physical signature and official seal of my grandfather’s lifelong family attorney, Mr. Harrison. Any attempt to do so without his direct involvement would automatically render the transaction null and void, returning sole ownership to me.

The refinancing papers Mark had tricked me into signing were completely illegal. He had forged the attorney’s seal.
By nine o'clock the next morning, I returned to the house, accompanied by two police officers and Mr. Harrison himself. Mark and Sarah were sitting on the porch, drinking coffee from my favorite mugs. Mark smirked as I approached. "Back to beg, Chloe?" he sneered.
Mr. Harrison stepped forward, holding the covenant and the forensic proof of the forged seal. "Mr. Davis," the attorney said coldly, "you are currently occupying a property that belongs solely to Chloe. Furthermore, we have filed a formal complaint for grand fraud and deed forgery."
The color drained from Mark's face as the police officers stepped forward with handcuffs. Sarah began to scream in panic as Mark was led away in tears. I stood on my porch, watching the man who betrayed me get pushed into the back of a police cruiser, while Sarah was forced to pack her bags and leave in disgrace.
Sometimes, the people we trust the most will try to steal our foundation, but a legacy built on truth can never be stolen.
