Previously: When Victoria's parents force her to sign away her life's work, she uncovers a web of financial ruin, a framed crime, and an unexpected savior in her billionaire ex-fiancé.

The Price of Betrayal

The grand ballroom of the Plaza was packed with reporters the following morning. Eleanor and Arthur stood at the podium, smiling warmly for the flashing cameras. Eleanor cleared her throat, adjusting the microphone.

"We are proud to announce the merger of our daughter's brand with the Vance Group, as Victoria steps down to focus on her personal health,"
she announced, her voice dripping with false sympathy.

Suddenly, the double doors at the back of the room swung open. Victoria walked in, wearing a striking red suit that commanded the room's attention. Beside her was Julian Vance, holding a tablet connected to the room's main projector screen. The reporters gasped, turning their cameras toward the unexpected duo.

"I am not stepping down,"
Victoria announced, her voice echoing through the microphone Julian handed her.
"And there is no merger. There is only an exposure of a massive corporate crime."

With a click of a button, Julian projected the forensic audit reports and the forged bank signatures onto the massive screen behind Eleanor and Arthur. The room erupted into chaos. Eleanor’s face drained of color, her sleek silver bob shaking as she stared at the damning evidence. Arthur stepped forward, his neat beard twitching in panic.

"This is a lie! She's unstable!"
he shouted, but his voice was drowned out by the clicking of cameras.

Two uniformed police officers stepped out from the wings of the stage. Within minutes, Arthur and Eleanor were escorted out of the ballroom in handcuffs, their reign of high-society terror brought to a sudden, humiliating end. Victoria watched them go, feeling a profound sense of weight lifting from her shoulders.

Turning to Julian, she saw the soft smile on his face—the same smile she had missed for two long years. He reached out, gently taking her hand.

"Are you ready to rebuild?"
he asked. Victoria nodded, a genuine smile finally breaking across her face.
"Together this time,"
she replied. True family isn't defined by the blood we share, but by the loyalty and love of those who stand by us when the world falls apart.
