A Nine-Year-Old Girl Interrupts Her Father's Murder Trial with a Pink Recorder
Previously: When nine-year-old Emily burst into the courtroom holding a small pink recorder, she shattered a web of lies designed to ruin her stepmother's life.
The Voice from the Grave
A collective gasp filled the courtroom. Victoria’s high-priced defense team immediately leaped to their feet, shouting objections about inadmissible evidence and courtroom decorum. But Judge Martha raised a calm, commanding hand, silencing the entire room. She looked down at the brave young girl standing before her, then turned her gaze to the bailiff. "Secure the device," the judge ordered calmly.
Sarah watched in breathless anticipation as the pink recorder was handed to the judge. Victoria was visibly sweating now, her hands clutching the railing of the witness stand so tightly her knuckles turned white. She knew what was on that tape, and her desperate attempts to dismiss it as a childish toy only made her look more guilty to the watching jury.

Judge Martha inspected the device, found the play button, and pressed it. A sharp crackle of static echoed through the courtroom's high-tech sound system, followed by the deep, unmistakable voice of Arthur. The room fell so silent you could hear the soft hum of the air conditioning.
"I know what you're doing, Victoria," Arthur's recorded voice said, sounding weak but determined. "I found the arsenic in your bag. You've been altering my medication."
Victoria's recorded voice answered, cold and mocking.
"And who is going to believe you, Arthur? By the time anyone asks questions, you'll be gone, and Sarah will take the fall. I’ll have the business, the estate, and your daughter."
The recording cut off with the sound of a struggle. The courtroom was paralyzed. The sheer malice in Victoria's voice was undeniable. Victoria collapsed back into her seat, her face drained of all color as the realization of her exposure set in.
