A Nine-Year-Old Girl Interrupts a Murder Trial with Her Father's Final Recording
Previously: When a grieving nine-year-old girl bursts into a tense courtroom trial, she holds the one piece of evidence that could change everything—and expose a deadly family secret.
The Voice from the Grave
The courtroom fell into an absolute hush. Judge Frances leaned forward, gesturing for the bailiff to bring Lucy closer. Audrey’s lawyer stood up, shouting objections about admissibility and the psychological state of a grieving child, but the judge raised a stern hand to silence him.
"Let the child speak," Judge Frances ruled, her eyes fixed on the bright pink toy recorder in Lucy’s hands. "Sweetheart, can you play it for us?"
Lucy nodded bravely and pressed the play button. The audio was fed directly into the courtroom's microphone. After a moment of static, a voice filled the room. It was Thomas Vance, and his voice was filled with a desperate, trembling fear.

"You think I don't know, Audrey?" Thomas's recorded voice echoed. "I found the digitalis in your cabinet. You’ve been putting it in my tea. I've already sent my medical records to my lawyer."
A collective gasp rippled through the gallery. Audrey gripped the edge of the witness stand, her knuckles turning white. The recording continued, capturing the sound of shattering glass and a violent struggle.
"Give me that phone, Thomas!" Audrey’s recorded voice shrieked, stripped of all her usual elegance. "No one is going to believe you! You're a sick man!"
Then, a sickening thud, followed by the sound of someone tumbling down a flight of wooden stairs. A heavy silence followed on the tape, broken only by Audrey's heavy breathing and her chilling whisper: "It's over."
The recording cut to static. The courtroom was dead silent. Sarah Jenkins let out a loud sob of relief, while Audrey slumped back onto the witness stand, her face drained of all color. The evidence was undeniable. She hadn't just framed Sarah; she had actively murdered her husband to cover up her financial crimes and inherit his estate.
But Audrey wasn't finished. Seeing her life crumble, she suddenly lunged toward Lucy, screaming in a fit of mad rage.
