Before Sarah’s trembling fingers could touch the paper, the door flew open once again. Charles stepped into the room, followed by a team of federal investigators and the local chief of police. A calm, triumphant smile was etched onto Charles’s face.

"I wouldn't sign that if I were you, Sarah," Charles said, his voice dripping with satisfaction.

Thomas scoffed, turning to face the older man. "You can't stop this, Charles. The prenup is legally binding. I will ruin her in court."

Charles chuckled softly, motioning to the lead investigator. "You see, Thomas, while you were busy planning this pathetic extortion scheme, my legal team was busy purchasing your family’s holding company. As of nine o'clock this morning, I own ninety percent of your family's assets. You are completely bankrupt."

Thomas’s face drained of all color. He turned to his lawyers, but they were already stepping back, recognizing that their client no longer had the funds to pay them. Charles stepped closer, his eyes locking onto Thomas with absolute authority.

"Furthermore," Charles continued, holding up a sleek tablet, "the security footage from your own drawing room has been handed over to the district attorney. In this state, any prenuptial agreement is rendered completely null and void in the event of documented domestic violence. You are going to prison, Thomas. And your sister Victoria is going down as an accomplice."

The police officers stepped forward, clicking handcuffs around Thomas’s wrists. He screamed in outrage as he was dragged out of the room, his empty threats fading down the hallway. Victoria was arrested shortly after at the manor.

Sarah let out a sob of pure relief, tears of joy streaming down her face as her father held her hand. Six months later, Sarah gave birth to a healthy baby boy, whom she named Charles. Safely surrounded by her father's love and protection, she finally realized that the darkest nights only make the dawn shine brighter.
