Previously: When Sarah stepped onto the desert firing range, the instructors laughed at her old rifle. But seven perfect shots later, a powerful secret began to unravel.

The Confrontation

By the time the seventh shot echoed across the desert, the silence at the range was absolute. Every single target downrange was spinning wildly. The spectators stood in stunned silence, their jaws practically on the dusty ground. But Sarah wasn't interested in their admiration. She lowered the smoking barrel of the rifle and turned her gaze back to Dave, whose face had gone completely pale.

Dave stepped closer, his eyes locked onto the stock of the rifle. He had finally noticed the custom, hand-carved initials near the recoil pad. His hands began to tremble. "Where did you get that weapon?" he whispered, his voice cracking with sudden panic.

"It belonged to my father," Sarah said, her voice cold and unwavering. "Arthur Vance."

The name hung in the hot desert air like a physical blow. Dave took a step back, his eyes darting nervously to the other instructors. "Arthur is dead," he stammered. "It was an accident. He fell in the canyon five years ago."

Sarah took a step forward, her eyes burning with determination. "I found his logbook, Dave," she said, loud enough for everyone to hear. "The one where he wrote down your name and the exact coordinates of the canyon where his body was found. He knew you were planning to betray him."

The atmosphere instantly turned hostile. The two instructors standing behind Dave slowly reached for their holsters. Dave’s expression hardened, a desperate, dangerous look entering his eyes. He realized that Sarah wasn't just a grieving daughter; she was a threat to everything they had built. He reached for the radio on his tactical vest.

"Lock the front gates," Dave muttered into the microphone. "We have a trespasser who needs to be escorted out."

Sarah found herself surrounded, miles away from help, facing armed men who had already killed once to keep their secrets. But instead of showing fear, she smiled. She reached into her olive hoodie and pulled out a small, blinking black device. "You think I came here alone?" she asked quietly.
