She Asked a Man in a Wheelchair to Dance, but His Secret Changed Everything
Previously: When Hannah asked a handsome stranger in a wheelchair to dance at a luxury gala, she expected a polite rejection. Instead, she uncovered a heartbreaking secret that bound their pasts together forever.
The Shadow of the Past
Hannah’s mind raced as she stared at the silver hawk ring. Fifteen years ago, a mysterious teenage boy had saved her from drowning in an icy lake, leaving behind only that ring. Could this man, now sitting in a wheelchair, be the hero she had spent her entire youth searching for?
Before she could ask him, a harsh, mocking voice shattered the fragile magic of their connection.

"Well, look who finally decided to join society. Trying to play the gentleman, Jonathan?"
A tall, arrogant man in an expensive designer suit swaggered over, a smirk plastered across his face. Jonathan’s expression hardened instantly, his jaw clenching as he gripped the armrests of his wheelchair.
"Leave us alone, Richard," Jonathan said, his voice dropping to a cold whisper.
Richard ignored him, turning his condescending gaze toward Hannah. "You should be careful, gorgeous. This man is a fraud. He’s about to lose his family’s historic estate because he can't pay his mounting medical bills. In fact, I bought out his debt this morning. He’s practically a trespasser in his own home."
Richard pulled a thick legal document from his jacket and tossed it contemptuously onto Jonathan’s lap. "Sign the final transfer of the estate, Jonathan. Do it now, or I’ll have the police remove you from the property tonight. Your late brother isn't here to save you this time."
Tears of anger and shame welled in Jonathan's eyes. He looked at Hannah, his voice trembling. "He's right, Hannah. You should go. I am the boy from the lake... but I couldn't save my own brother from the crash that put me in this chair. Now, I have nothing left to fight with."
Hannah felt a surge of fierce determination. She wasn't about to let the man who saved her life be destroyed by a ruthless predator. Just as Richard signaled two security guards to escort Jonathan out, Hannah stepped forward, blocking their path. She had a secret of her own—one that would change the game entirely.
