At 62, He Graduated College Only for His Wealthy Brother to Ruin the Day
Previously: At sixty-two, Arthur finally earned his degree, only for his estranged, wealthy brother to arrive with a cruel threat. But Arthur's son was prepared.
A Modern Justice
Julian stepped between his father and the predatory lawyers, reaching into his own jacket pocket to pull out a folder of his own. "We’ve been waiting for you, Uncle Thomas," Julian said, his voice remarkably calm and steady. "In fact, we counted on you showing up today."
Thomas laughed mockingly. "You think you can fight my legal team, boy? You're out of your depth."

Julian opened the folder, presenting a set of certified court documents. "Actually, I spent the last three years studying corporate law, and I just passed the bar. And while my dad was studying engineering, I was studying your corporate history. In 1998, you restructured your firm under Chapter 11 bankruptcy to avoid a massive lawsuit. When you did that, you legally dissolved all prior subsidiary contracts—including the 1982 agreement with my father. That contract has been legally dead for over twenty-five years."
The smile instantly vanished from Thomas’s face. He snatched the papers, his eyes darting frantically across the pages. His lead attorney leaned in, squinting at the documents, and slowly turned pale, giving Thomas a subtle, panicked nod.
"But we're not done," Julian continued, his voice hardening. "My father’s new filtration system uses an entirely different, modern chemical process. However, during my research, I discovered that your flagship product—the one that made you a millionaire—still uses my father's original, uncredited 1980s designs. Since you nullified the original contract in 1998, you have been using his intellectual property without a license for two decades. That is willful patent infringement. We are prepared to file a federal lawsuit on Monday morning."
Thomas’s face went entirely white. He looked at his lawyers, but they both stepped back, refusing to meet his gaze. "We need to settle this privately, Thomas," his lead attorney whispered urgently. "If this goes to court, it will destroy the company."
With trembling hands, Thomas looked at Arthur, the brother he had looked down on for forty years. Realizing he was utterly defeated, Thomas grabbed his lawyers and fled the hall without another word. Arthur let out a breath he felt he had been holding for forty years, tears of relief streaming down his face as he embraced Julian once more. At sixty-two, Arthur hadn't just gotten a degree; he had finally reclaimed his stolen legacy, proving that justice and second chances are always worth fighting for.
