Previously: When a cocky young soldier decided to humiliate a weathered 71-year-old veteran at a desert shooting range, he had no idea he was challenging a legendary military ghost.

A Final Mission Accomplished

Arthur looked at Vance, his weathered face showing no fear. Instead, a slow, knowing smile spread across his lips. He looked back at the shattered steel target five hundred yards away, then turned his gaze to the corrupt general. The young soldiers on the range stood tense, their weapons half-raised, unsure of who the real enemy was.

"You always underestimated the Ghost Unit, Raymond," Arthur said softly. "You thought I came here today to practice my aim. But I don't need practice."

Vance’s brow furrowed in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

Arthur pointed toward the shattered target. "That target wasn't just steel. It was a secure satellite transponder disguised as a bullseye. I installed it there this morning. The moment my bullet shattered the casing, it triggered an automated, encrypted broadcast. The complete, unedited files of your betrayal in 1994 have just been sent directly to the Department of Justice and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The broadcast is finished. The world knows what you did."

Vance’s face drained of color. He reached for his radio, but before he could speak, the distant thud of military helicopters began to echo over the desert hills. Sirens wailed in the distance. The real authorities were already descending on the range, guided by the emergency transponder signal.

Cole, realizing the truth, stepped forward and raised his weapon, pointing it directly at Vance's tactical guards. "Lower your weapons," Cole commanded, his voice filled with newfound authority and respect. "You are under arrest for treason."

The guards, realizing they were trapped and their employer was ruined, slowly lowered their rifles. Vance fell to his knees in the dust, his legacy destroyed in an instant. Arthur gently placed his rifle back on the rack, patted Cole on the shoulder, and walked away into the desert afternoon. True heroes don't seek glory; they simply ensure that justice, no matter how long it takes, is always served.
