Previously: When a hotheaded soldier violently grabbed Megan's hair in a packed military mess hall, he thought he was just teaching an intruder a lesson—but her identity changed everything.

The Arrival of the Command

Before Christopher could utter another mocking reply, the heavy double doors of the mess facility swung open. The casual silence of the room instantly transformed into a rigid, formal tension as a group of high-ranking officers entered. At the front of the group was Colonel Marcus Vance, alongside the Base Commander, General Briggs. The entire room snapped to attention, their boots clicking together in unison. Even Christopher went stiff, saluting quickly while trying to distance himself from Megan.

General Briggs’s sharp eyes immediately scanned the room, locking onto Megan. He noticed her disheveled hair, her flushed face, and the unmistakable look of distress. His expression darkened into a terrifying, silent rage. He marched directly over to the table, his heavy boots echoing off the concrete floor.

"Soldier, explain yourself. What is going on here?" General Briggs demanded, his voice dangerously calm.

Christopher, still oblivious to the trap he had walked into, cleared his throat. "Sir, I was simply escorting an unauthorized civilian out of the facility. She was refusing to cooperate," he lied smoothly, hoping his rank would shield him from any scrutiny.

Colonel Vance stepped forward, his eyes blazing with a protective fury that made Christopher flinch. "That 'unauthorized civilian' is my wife, Sergeant. And she is the daughter of the Base Commander," Marcus said, his voice trembling with anger. The revelation hit the mess hall like a physical blow. Christopher’s face drained of all color, his confident posture collapsing as he stared at Megan in absolute horror.

Desperate to salvage the situation, Christopher began to stammer an apology, but the General silenced him with a single raised hand. He turned to the crowd of silent onlookers. "Did anyone witness what happened here?" he asked. For a moment, no one spoke. Then, Cody stepped forward, setting his tray down. "I did, Sir. Sergeant Christopher grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back. She did nothing to provoke him," Cody testified bravely. The final nail had been driven into Christopher's coffin.
