Sarah acted quickly, throwing a heavy climbing rope down to Leo. "Grab hold!" she yelled. With the last of his fading strength, Leo wrapped the rope around his arms. Sarah pulled him up over the lip of the gorge, dragging him to safety just as Marcus tried to scramble back toward his pack. But Marcus was injured from his frantic retreat; his ankle had buckled on the wet rocks, leaving him trapped on a lower shelf, unable to escape.

As they waited for the search and rescue team Sarah had summoned via her emergency beacon, she explained everything to a shivering, traumatized Leo. She had initially been hired by Marcus to look into his mother's estate, but she quickly grew suspicious of the circumstances surrounding the crash. When she realized Marcus had taken Leo deep into the wilderness, she knew she had to follow them. She couldn't let another innocent life be taken.

Within hours, the sound of helicopter blades sliced through the mountain fog. State troopers rappelled down, swiftly arresting Marcus and pulling him up in handcuffs. As Leo was wrapped in a warm blanket inside the rescue chopper, he looked down at the sprawling pine forest. The nightmare was finally over, and his mother's memory would finally have the justice she deserved.
