A Kind Stranger Saved Me From Starvation, Then My Past Walked Through the Door
Previously: Pregnant and abandoned, Lily was forced to scavenge for food outside a diner. But when a kind stranger stepped in to help, it triggered a series of shocking revelations.
The Shadow of the Past
As Lily finished the last bite of the warm meal, the roar of an expensive engine broke the quiet evening. A sleek black luxury car pulled up to the curb, and Lily’s heart froze. The door opened, and Marcus stepped out, looking polished and arrogant. From the passenger seat, his mother, Eleanor, watched with a cold, triumphant sneer.
Marcus marched onto the patio, his eyes scanning Lily with disgust.

"Look at you, Lily," Marcus mocked, his voice dripping with malice. "Living like a stray dog. I knew you'd end up in the gutter where you belong."
Lily tried to stand, her hands shaking as she held her stomach.
"Marcus, please," she whispered. "I didn't steal your mother's heirloom. It was a setup. Think of our baby!"
"That child is none of my concern, and you're a thief," Marcus hissed, grabbing her arm roughly. "Get off this property before I have you arrested for loitering."
Before Marcus could drag her away, the restaurant door swung open. David stepped out, his posture calm but radiating an undeniable authority.
"Take your hands off her," David commanded, his voice slicing through the air.
Marcus let out a harsh laugh, sizing up David's casual hoodie.
"And who are you supposed to be? Her savior? Mind your own business, loser, before I buy this whole block and have you fired."
David calmly pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
"Security, I need you at the front patio of the flagship branch immediately," David said.
Marcus’s sneer faltered. He looked at the restaurant’s logo, then back at David, his face suddenly draining of color as recognition set in. David Sterling was the billionaire CEO of the entire national food franchise and the head of the city's largest real estate development firm—the very firm Marcus's family company was desperately trying to sign a multi-million dollar contract with.
"Mr. Sterling?" Marcus stammered, his voice cracking. "I... I didn't realize. This woman is a criminal, she—"
"Consider your contract bid officially rejected," David interrupted coldly. "And if you don't release her and leave my property immediately, my security team will hold you for harassment and assault."
