Previously: When Dorothy returned home after fifteen years, her son Brandon was filled with resentment. But a hidden secret inside her handbag was about to change everything they believed.

The room fell dead silent as Brandon looked from his trembling mother to his sneering uncle. For years, Brandon had felt powerless, dictated by the lies of a cruel father. But looking at Dorothy—who had sacrificed her entire life, her reputation, and her happiness just so he could live—something inside Brandon snapped.

He stepped between Charles and Dorothy, his chest rising and falling with powerful emotion.

"Get out of my house, Charles," Brandon said, his voice deadly quiet but vibrating with absolute authority.

Charles laughed coldly. "Don't be a fool, Brandon. If you protect her, I will personally see to it that you are blacklisted from every firm in this city. You'll lose everything."

Brandon reached out, snatched the legal documents from Charles’s hands, and tore them in half, letting the pieces flutter to the floor.

"I don't care about your money, and I don't care about your threats," Brandon declared, staring his uncle down. "You and my father took fifteen years of my mother's life. You will not take one more second. Leave now, or I will call the police and release these recordings to the press myself."

A New Beginning

Seeing the fierce determination in Brandon's eyes, Charles’s sneer faded into a mask of panic. Realizing he had lost all leverage, the older man turned on his heel and stormed out of the house, his lawyers trailing closely behind him.

As the front door slammed shut, the heavy shadow that had hung over Brandon's life for fifteen years finally evaporated. He turned to Dorothy, his eyes streaming with tears. He fell to his knees in front of her, burying his face in her lap.

"I'm so sorry, Mom," he wept. "I'm so sorry I doubted you."

Dorothy wrapped her arms around him, pulling him close, her tears soaking his hair. "You have nothing to apologize for, my sweet boy," she whispered. "I'm finally home."

Ashley watched them, her own eyes overflowing with tears of joy. Some family bonds are too strong to be broken by lies, and sometimes, the truth is the only key needed to unlock a lifetime of love and second chances.
