Previously: When eighteen-year-old Cody stopped to help a crashed motorcyclist on a foggy country road, he never expected a simple act of kindness to unearth a family secret hidden for decades.

A Hidden Identity Revealed

The realization hit Cody like a physical blow. The ring, the weathered features that mirrored his own, and the faded tattoo of a hawk on the man's collarbone—it all pointed to one impossible truth. The man bleeding in the grass was Dallas, the father Cody had been told died in an accident eighteen years ago.

"Dad?" Cody whispered, the word feeling foreign and heavy on his tongue.

Dallas closed his eyes, a single tear cutting through the dirt on his cheek. "I never wanted you to see me like this, son," he croaked. "I had to leave. To keep you and your mother safe from the life I led. But they found me."

Before Cody could ask who "they" were, the blinding headlights of two dark SUVs pierced the fog, pulling up sharply on the roadside above. The heavy doors slammed shut, and three men in matching leather vests stepped out. Their faces were grim, their intentions clear as they stared down at Dallas and Cody.

"Well, look what we have here," the lead man sneered, stepping down the embankment. "The runaway president of the Iron Hawks, finally cornered."

Dallas gasped, trying to push Cody away with his uninjured arm. "Run, Cody. Get to your car. They don’t know who you are. Just go!"

But Cody stood his ground, his heart hammering against his ribs. He stepped in front of his injured father, shielding him from the approaching men. "I'm not leaving him," Cody declared, his voice stronger than he felt.

The lead man laughed, a cold, mocking sound. "You've got spirit, kid. But Dallas owes us something that doesn't belong to him. Step aside, or you'll bleed just like him."

Dallas grabbed Cody’s ankle, his grip desperate. "The compartment under my bike seat," he hissed. "There's a flash drive with their financial records. It's my leverage. Take it and run!"
