Previously: When Admiral William Vance spotted his estranged daughter undercover on his naval base, he thought it was a family reunion—until a shocking betrayal trapped them both.

The Final Protocol

The situation seemed entirely hopeless. Trapped inside his own office with armed guards preparing to blow the hinges off the door, Admiral Vance looked at his daughter. But Lauren didn't panic. Instead, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, active satellite transmitter, its blue light pulsing steadily.

"You always taught me to look three moves ahead on the chessboard, Dad," Lauren said, a faint smile breaking through her tense expression. "I didn't just come here to gather evidence. I came with a direct live-stream to the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

She pressed a button on the transmitter. Instantly, the monitors on the office wall, which had been blacked out by the lockdown, flickered to life. The face of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs appeared, looking directly at the scene outside the glass partition.

Through the intercom, Lauren spoke directly to the guards standing behind the treasonous Chief of Staff.

"Guards, this is Special Agent Lauren Vance, Defense Intelligence Agency. Commander Sterling's authorization codes have been revoked by the Pentagon. Look at your tactical tablets."

The lead guard hesitated, glancing down at his wrist-mounted tablet. His eyes went wide as the red alert status on his screen shifted to an arrest warrant for Commander Sterling. In a swift, synchronized motion, the four guards turned their weapons away from the office door and pointed them directly at Sterling's chest. The traitor's face drained of color as he was forced to drop his radio and put his hands behind his head.

The magnetic locks clicked open, and the red emergency lights faded back to normal. William stepped out of the office, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his daughter as the guards marched the traitor away. The old Admiral turned to Lauren, his eyes shining with pride, realizing that the legacy of honor he had feared lost was alive and well in the daughter who had saved his life. In the end, true loyalty isn't measured by the medals on your chest, but by the silent sacrifices made in the shadows to protect the ones we love.
