Previously: When Edith fell from the snowy balcony of her family's estate, she thought her husband Lewis had taken everything. But she survived, and the truth was far worse than betrayal.

The Ghost of Blackwood Manor

The storm raged outside as Julian walked into the grand study of Blackwood Manor. Lewis and Stella were already there, celebrating with expensive champagne. They looked triumphant, believing their dark secret was buried forever under the winter snow. Julian calmly laid the legal documents on the mahogany desk, watching as Lewis eagerly reached for a pen.

“To a new beginning,” Lewis toasted, raising his glass to Stella. “And to Edith, who was always too weak to handle this world.”

Before he could sign, the heavy double doors of the study swung open. The cold draft from the hallway rushed into the room, but it was the figure standing in the doorway that made the room freeze. Edith stepped forward, wearing the same turquoise gown, now stained with dirt and dried blood. Her face was pale, but her eyes burned with an icy resolve.

“I’m not weak, Lewis,” Edith said, her voice echoing like a bell. “And I am very much alive.”

Stella screamed, dropping her champagne glass, which shattered on the floor. Lewis stumbled backward, his face turning an ashen gray as he stared at his wife. He tried to speak, but only choked sounds escaped his throat. He reached out to touch her, convinced he was seeing a ghost.

At that moment, the lights flared, and several police officers stepped out from the shadows of the corridor, led by a federal investigator Julian had contacted. The local corrupt police could not save Lewis from federal embezzlement and attempted murder charges. As the handcuffs clicked around Lewis and Stella's wrists, Edith looked at the husband who had tried to kill her. She realized that the snow had not destroyed her; it had simply washed away the lies of her past, leaving her stronger than ever before. True strength is not found in the absence of betrayal, but in the courage to rise from the cold and reclaim your life.
