Previously: When three arrogant young men tried to bully a quiet senior off his favorite fishing dock, they had no idea they were threatening the one man who held their futures in his hands.

The Tables Turn

Thomas stood to his full height, easily matching the young men. Despite his age, his broad shoulders and steady gaze carried an undeniable authority. Derek took a half-step back, momentarily startled by the old man's sudden presence, but Jason quickly stepped in to regain control of the situation.

"You think you're tough, old man?" Jason sneered, shoving Thomas's shoulder. "Our fraternity leased this entire shoreline for the season. You're trespassing on Omega House territory. Get lost before we throw you and your cooler into the lake."

Thomas didn't budge. A cold smile played at the corners of his mouth as he recognized the Greek letters on Derek's hoodie. These boys were students at Blackwood University, the local elite college. They believed their families' wealth and fraternity status made them untouchable. They had no idea who they were dealing with.

"You boys should be very careful about the choices you make in the next sixty seconds," Thomas said, his voice calm, low, and terrifyingly steady.

"Or what?" Derek laughed, though his voice shook slightly. "Who are you going to call? The cops? Our parents own half the police force in this town."

Thomas reached into his fleece vest and pulled out a sleek, leather wallet, flipping it open to reveal a gold-embossed credential. It was his official ID as the Chairman of the Blackwood University Board of Trustees, alongside a security clearance badge. The university, and the very land they stood on, had been donated by Thomas's family estate decades ago.

Furthermore, Thomas was the sole administrator of the Blackwood Foundation, which funded the very scholarships keeping Jason and Derek in school. The color drained from Jason’s face as he stared at the gold seal. The arrogant smirks vanished instantly, replaced by a suffocating, icy panic.
