Previously: When three arrogant young men confronted a quiet old fisherman on a misty lake, they thought he was an easy target. They had no idea who he really was.

The Scales of Justice

Thomas stood up slowly, his tall frame straightening despite the ache in his joints. Standing at his full height, he was nearly as tall as the young men, his presence suddenly commanding. He looked at the three boys, his voice calm and steady. "You boys are on private property. I suggest you pick up my rod and leave."

Jason laughed, stepping closer. "Private property? This whole area is public land, old man. And even if it wasn't, who's going to make us leave? You?" He reached out to shove Thomas's shoulder, but Thomas didn't budge. Instead, the retired judge reached into his pocket and pulled out a small brass whistle, blowing it sharply.

The high-pitched sound echoed across the misty lake. The boys mocked him, laughing at the useless gesture. "What, you calling the birds?" Derek sneered. But their laughter died instantly when the roar of heavy engines broke the silence. Two massive black SUVs tore through the narrow dirt path of the pine forest, slamming to a halt right at the entrance of the dock.

Four burly men in dark suits stepped out, their faces grim and professional. Leading them was Marcus, a towering head of security who had protected Thomas for over a decade. The three youths froze, their faces turning pale as Marcus walked down the dock, his eyes locked onto them.

"Is there a problem here, Judge?" Marcus asked, his voice low and dangerous.

The word 'Judge' hit the boys like a physical blow. Jason's jaw dropped, and Derek took a trembling step backward. Thomas looked at his damaged fishing rod, then at the terrified faces of the boys who had just been threatening him. "These young men were just explaining that they own this lake," Thomas said quietly. "And they've damaged my property."

Thomas said quietly. "And they've damaged my property."
