How an Unfazed Woman in Orange Took Down the Prison's Most Feared Giant
Previously: When the prison's most terrifying inmate tried to break Skye in front of the entire yard, he didn't expect her to stand her ground—or reveal a secret that changed everything.
The standoff in the yard was only the beginning. Word traveled fast through the cell blocks that the new girl hadn't backed down from Roman. By nightfall, the tension inside Blackwood had reached a boiling point. Skye knew Roman couldn't let her defiance stand; his reputation was his currency, and she had just devalued it in front of the entire prison.
After lights out, Skye slipped into the prison library under the guise of returning a book. It was a known blind spot for the security cameras, a place where debts were settled in the dark. She had barely stepped past the dusty shelves when a massive hand clamped around her throat, slamming her hard against the steel shelving.

Roman loomed out of the shadows, his face contorted in rage.
A Dangerous Confrontation
"You made a mistake today, little girl," Roman growled, tightening his grip. "Nobody looks at me like that and lives to tell about it."
Even as her lungs screamed for air, Skye didn’t panic. She reached into her pocket and pressed a small, cold metal object against Roman's chest. It was a digital audio recorder she had managed to smuggle from the counselor's office.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Skye gasped out, her voice raspy but completely steady. "On this recorder is a conversation between you and the Warden about the drug shipments coming through the laundry room. If my heart stops, this audio gets automatically uploaded to a secure external server."
Roman froze. His grip loosened. The giant who had terrorized hundreds of men was suddenly looking at a woman half his size with genuine fear. Before he could respond, the heavy metal door of the library creaked open. The beam of a powerful flashlight cut through the dark, illuminating them. It was Warden Vance, accompanied by three armed guards.
"Well, what do we have here?" the Warden said, a cruel smile on his face. "Looks like an attempted escape. Roman, finish this. I'll make sure the paperwork says she resisted."
