A Waitress Saved Two Shivering Homeless Children—Then Their Father Arrived With a Dark Secret
Previously: When Emily, a kind-hearted waitress, stepped into the freezing snow to hand hot soup to two shivering orphans, she had no idea they held the key to her forgotten past.
A Ghost from a Forgotten Past
Emily sat on the curb with the children, shielding them from the wind as they eagerly ate. She learned their names were Toby and Mia. But their quiet moment was shattered when a sleek black SUV screeched to a halt at the curb. A tall man in an expensive wool coat rushed out, his face pale with a desperate intensity.
Toby immediately jumped up, placing his small body protectively in front of his shivering little sister. "Stay away from us!" the boy screamed, his voice filled with terror.

Emily stood up, her protective instincts instantly kicking in. "Who are you?" she demanded, stepping between the man and the children. "You can't just scare them like this."
The man stopped, locking his eyes onto Emily's face. Suddenly, all the color drained from his skin. He stared at her as if he had just witnessed a miracle.
"Emily...?" he whispered, his voice trembling. "My God, it really is you."
Emily's heart pounded. "How do you know my name?" she asked, a cold dread settling in her stomach.
The man reached into his coat and pulled out a worn leather wallet, opening it to reveal a folded, yellowed photograph. He handed it to her. It was a picture of a younger, radiant Emily laughing on a beach, her arm locked with this very man. Six years ago, Emily had woken up in a hospital with absolute amnesia after a horrific car accident. She had no memory of her past, her family, or who she was.
"My name is Arthur," the man said, tears streaming down his face. "I am your husband, Emily. And these are our children. I thought I lost you forever!"
Emily's mind spun in chaotic circles. Was this the answer to her lost years? But before she could speak, Toby grabbed her hand, his eyes wide with horror.
"Don't trust him, Emily!" Toby cried out. "He's lying! He's the one who caused your accident, and he's the reason we ran away!"
Arthur's grieving expression vanished, replaced by a cold, menacing sneer as he stepped forward to grab Emily's arm.
