The Facade Crumbles

The roar of the helicopter engine seemed to fade into a dull hum as Arthur and Eleanor locked eyes. The silence between them was suffocating. Arthur’s grip on his wife’s arm tightened, his voice dropping to a deadly whisper that Toby could still hear. "Eleanor, if Toby is mistaken, you won't mind boarding first. Let’s go."

Eleanor tried to pull away, her composure finally shattering. "This is ridiculous, Arthur! You are going to believe the wild accusations of a common laborer over me? He is clearly out of his mind, probably high on something!" she yelled, her voice rising to a panicked shriek. But her refusal to step toward the aircraft spoke louder than any of her words.

Arthur signaled the pilot to shut down the engines. As the massive rotors slowly ground to a halt, the reality of the situation became terrifyingly clear. "Call the police and a bomb squad," Arthur ordered his head of security, his voice remarkably calm but laced with a deep, crushing betrayal.

Realizing she was trapped, Eleanor’s expression transformed from panic to pure malice. She reached into her designer handbag. Before anyone could react, she pulled out a small, silver caliber pistol and pointed it directly at Arthur’s chest.

"Don't move! Nobody make a sound or I will end this right now!"
she screamed, her hand trembling but her eyes filled with desperate rage.

Toby stepped back, his heart hammering against his ribs. He had wanted to save his boss, but now he had placed them both in the line of fire. Eleanor began backing away toward the estate’s driveway, keeping the gun trained on Arthur. She confessed to her dark motives, screaming about how Arthur had planned to write her out of his will after discovering her secret bank accounts. "I wasn't going to let you leave me with nothing!" she spat.
