A Wealthy Man Finds His Long-Lost Mother Running a Humble Street Food Cart
Previously: When wealthy businessman Christopher tracked down a humble street food cart in the city, he didn't expect to find the mother who had vanished from his life twenty years ago.
The Price of Secrets
Before Christopher could step forward to embrace his mother, the screech of tires cut through the ambient noise of the street. A sleek black town car had pulled up directly beside the food cart. The door opened, and a man in a sharp grey suit stepped out. It was Richard, the powerful lawyer who had once been Christopher’s late father’s closest confidant—and the architect of the family's ruin.
Richard adjusted his tie, a cold, calculating smile spreading across his face as he approached the cart. He looked at Helen’s humble setup with obvious disdain before turning his sharp gaze onto Christopher.

"Well, Christopher. I had a feeling your little search would lead you here," Richard said, his voice dripping with malice. "But I didn't think you'd actually be foolish enough to initiate contact."
Helen shrank back against her cart, her face pale with terror. She instinctively reached out, as if to shield Christopher.
"Richard, please," Helen begged, her voice trembling. "He has nothing to do with this. Leave him alone."
"I’m afraid it doesn't work that way, Helen," Richard replied smoothly, pulling a leather-bound folder from his briefcase. "Twenty years ago, you signed an agreement. In exchange for your silence and your departure, you received a stipend, and you agreed never to seek out your son. If you breached that contract, you agreed to face immediate criminal prosecution."
Christopher stepped between his mother and the lawyer, his eyes burning with fury.
"My father is dead, Richard. The intimidation ends today. I know he blackmailed her into leaving!"
"Your father may be gone, but the legal structure remains," Richard sneered. "And more importantly, Christopher, your position as the CEO of your father's firm is contingent on the family's reputation. If this scandal goes public, the board will strip you of your titles and your shares. You will be ruined, and your mother will spend her remaining years in a prison cell. Is that the reunion you wanted?"
