When bullies cornered the quiet girl, her hidden reflexes exposed a dark family secret
The Restroom Confrontation
The tiled walls of the Westbridge High girl's restroom felt like a cold, sterile cage. Paige stood pinned against the sinks, her shoulders tense as Haley’s two loyal followers held her arms in a tight grip. Haley, the school's undisputed queen bee, stepped forward with a malicious grin playing on her lips. In her hand, she held a tube of crimson lipstick like a weapon.
"Now everyone will know what you are,"Haley whispered, her voice dripping with venom. She pressed the waxy red tip against Paige’s forehead, dragging it across her skin in a humiliating mark. The other girls giggled, anticipating Paige’s tears. But Paige didn't cry. Instead, she closed her eyes, took a deep, centering breath, and let the fear wash away, replaced by years of disciplined training her father had insisted upon.
With an explosive, sudden spin, Paige broke the grip of the two girls holding her. In a blur of motion, she executed a swift flurry of blocks and strikes. Her elbow connected with one girl's shoulder, while a sweep of her leg sent the other crashing to the tiled floor. Haley gasped, backing away, but Paige caught her wrist, easily disarming her and sending her sprawling beside her friends. The restroom fell dead silent, save for the heavy breathing of the three defeated bullies.
Paige stood defiantly over them, her dark hair falling perfectly back into place. Slowly, she knelt beside a dazed and trembling Haley. She picked up the discarded red lipstick from the floor. Looking down with icy resolve, Paige drew a bold cross on Haley’s forehead.
"You wrote the wrong name,"Paige whispered coldly, before standing up and walking out, leaving the three girls gasping in shock and disbelief on the cold floor.
