A Kind Waiter Is Fired For Helping A Battered Stranger Who Reveals A Shocking Secret
The rain beat mercilessly against the glass of the Midnight Harbor Cafe, blurring the neon lights of the city. Inside, nineteen-year-old Leo wiped down the laminate counter, the scent of stale coffee and floor wax heavy in the air. He was tired, but he needed this job to pay his tuition. Suddenly, a heavy thud shook the front window. Leo looked up to see a man in a dark leather jacket, his face bruised and smeared with grime, collapsing against the glass.
A Heartless Decision
Before Leo could take a step, a heavy hand clamped down on his shoulder. It was Thomas, the cafe’s manager, his face twisted in disgust.
"Don't get involved. We have customers," Thomas warned, his voice cold and unyielding.
Leo stared at the man outside shivering in the downpour.
"Something's wrong with him," Leo said, shaking off Thomas's grip and rushing out into the cold night.
The icy rain soaked Leo instantly as he knelt on the wet pavement.
"Sir? Can you hear me?" Leo asked, his heart pounding.
The man slowly opened his eyes, whispering,
"I'm okay."
Leo reached into his apron and pulled out a bottle of water.
"Take some water," Leo urged gently.
The man took a trembling sip, his eyes filling with gratitude.
"Thank you. Thank you," he whispered.
"Stay with me," Leo comforted him, trying to shield him from the wind.
Suddenly, the cafe door flew open. Thomas stood there, silhouetted by the warm light, his face red with anger.
"Get back inside!" Thomas yelled.
"He needs help!" Leo protested, refusing to leave the stranger's side.
"Then you're fired," Thomas snapped, slamming the door shut.
The bruised stranger looked up at Leo, a profound look of respect in his eyes.
"You helped me... when nobody else would," the man murmured.
With trembling fingers, the man pulled out a cracked phone and dialed.
"Yeah. I'm outside Midnight Harbor Cafe," he said into the receiver.
”I'm outside Midnight Harbor Cafe," he said into the receiver.
