My Boss's Family Labeled Me Insane Until I Smashed the Matriarch's Casket
The air in the Oakridge Funeral Home was thick with the scent of white roses and unspoken tension. Maria, dressed in her server's orange dress and white apron, stood at the back of the room, her chest heaving. In her hands, she gripped a heavy wooden pole. Before her lay the pristine white casket holding Clara, the woman who had been more than just her employer. To the rest of the room, Maria looked like she had lost her mind. To Maria, she was the only one who knew the truth.
"Wait!" Maria's voice shattered the somber silence. She sprinted toward the casket, her eyes locked on the gold handles. The mourners, clad in pristine black attire, gasped and parted like the Red Sea.

Before Marcus, Clara’s son, could react, Maria raised the wooden pole and brought it down with agonizing force. The polished white wood splintered, sending sharp fragments flying across the room.
A Shocking Disruption
"What are you doing? Have you lost your mind?"Marcus roared, his face contorted with outrage. He lunged forward, his hands trembling with fury.
Maria fell to her knees, clutching the pole, tears streaming down her face.
"She's not dead! Marcus, please, you have to listen to me!"
Elena, Clara’s sister, stood frozen by the fireplace mantel. Her hands clutched her pearl earrings, her eyes wide with a mixture of shock and sheer terror.
Before Marcus could drag Maria away, a faint, rhythmic scratching sound echoed from inside the cracked casket. Marcus froze, his anger instantly evaporating into chilling disbelief.
"Did you hear that?"he whispered.
