My Son Died At Birth Eight Years Ago, Then He Knocked On My Door
A Stormy Encounter
The storm raging outside the Vance estate seemed to mirror the heavy grief in Sarah’s heart. Standing on the grand porch of the gloomy mansion, she clutched her wooden broom, her eyes scanning the dark, rain-slicked driveway. That was when she saw him. A tiny, frail figure stood shivering outside the ornate iron gates. It was a young boy, no older than eight, drenched to the bone, his face smudged with dirt and a thin trail of blood trickling from his nose.
Sarah’s maternal instincts, buried deep under years of sorrow, instantly flared. She ran through the downpour, unlocked the heavy gates, and guided the trembling child inside.

"Hungry? Eat as much as you want," she whispered softly.
She led him into the warmth of the mansion’s luxurious kitchen. She served him a hot bowl of steaming beef and vegetable stew, watching with a mixture of pity and wonder as he eagerly devoured it. But as she leaned closer to wipe a smudge of dirt from his temple, her eyes locked onto a silver rectangular dog tag hanging around his neck.
Her heart stopped. Engraved on the metal was a perfect portrait of Julian—her late husband who had tragically died eight years ago. It was the exact same necklace that had been mysteriously stolen from her drawer a year prior.
"Oh no, where did you get that necklace?" Sarah asked, her voice cracking with a mixture of shock and terror.
Before the boy could answer, the heavy, calculated footsteps of Arthur Vance echoed down the hallway. The imposing patriarch stood in the doorway, his dark pinstripe suit immaculate, his expression cold and menacing.
