The morning rush at the Silver Lining Diner was always chaotic, but today, a quiet table in the corner held the attention of Sarah, a warm-hearted, ginger-haired waitress. In the teal vinyl booth sat Lily, a young brunette girl in a wheelchair, looking lost and overwhelmed. Her hands trembled as she stared at the menu. The smell of fresh coffee and greasy bacon filled the air, but the atmosphere at table four was thick with tension.

Sarah approached with a gentle smile, adjusting her light pink polo and crisp white apron. Kneeling down to Lily's eye level to avoid looking intimidating, she said softly, "Let me help you, okay?"

Lily looked down, her shoulders tensing up as if she expected to be scolded. In a quiet, shaky whisper that barely carried over the diner's background din, she replied,

"I, I don't want to bother you."

Sarah’s heart melted. She smiled reassuringly, placing a comforting hand near Lily's arm. "You're not bothering me. We'll do it together."

A rare, beautiful smile broke across Lily's face, lighting up her eyes.

"Just thank you,"
she whispered, her voice gaining a tiny bit of strength.

Suddenly, a gasp echoed from behind them. Mark, a man in a sharp, dark grey business suit, approached the booth in total disbelief. His eyes were wide, filled with tears as his briefcase slipped from his hand. "Lily, you're talking?" he breathed, taking a step forward.

But before the emotional moment could unfold, the heavy, angry footsteps of Arthur, the diner's older manager, stomped over. His slicked-back grey hair caught the harsh fluorescent light as his face twisted with rage. He slammed his hands onto the booth table, rattling the silverware and causing Lily to flinch.

"You're fired! Get out of my diner now!"
Arthur roared, pointing a trembling finger at Sarah, his voice shaking with a strange, desperate panic.
