A Terrified Girl Sought Refuge With A Biker, Unlocking A Hidden Family Secret
A Stormy Haven
The neon sign of the highway diner buzzed against the relentless onslaught of a midnight storm. Rain lashed the glass doors like gravel, blurring the headlights of the empty highway. Inside, the air smelled of stale coffee and damp leather. Lily stood near the entrance, her hands trembling as she wrung the hem of her wet pink t-shirt. She was terrified, her eyes darting back toward the dark parking lot where a black sedan had just pulled in. She was out of options.
Looking around the diner, her eyes landed on a row of imposing figures sitting at the counter. They were members of the Iron Brotherhood, a notorious local motorcycle club. At the center sat Jax, a massive, bald Caucasian biker with a thick, gray-streaked beard and arms covered in intricate tattoos. He looked like the last person anyone would want to cross.
Desperation pushed Lily forward. Taking a deep breath, she walked up to the counter and tapped Jax lightly on his leather-clad shoulder.
"Um, sir?" she whispered, her voice cracking.
Jax slowly turned his formidable face toward her, his dark eyes sizing her up. He didn’t look angry, just intensely curious.
"What is it, kid?" he asked, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the diner.
Lily’s gaze flicked back toward the rain-slicked glass doors.
"Look back," she pleaded.
Jax glanced toward the entrance, his sharp eyes instantly spotting the heavy-set man in a dark coat stepping out of the black sedan, scanning the diner windows. Jax’s expression hardened instantly. He didn't ask questions. He didn't hesitate.
"Right. Stay close," Jax muttered, his tone shifting into one of pure authority.
He stood up, his massive frame towering over Lily, immediately creating a protective barrier between her and the door. As he moved down the checkered aisle, the other burly bikers at the counter stood up in unison. Cole, a tall biker with fierce eyes, stepped in right behind him.
"Nobody touches her," Jax declared, his voice leaving no room for argument.
"We know," Cole responded quietly, cracking his knuckles as they faced the door.
