The fluorescent lights of Oakridge High's cafeteria hummed, casting a sterile glow over the rows of green lockers and noisy lunch tables. In the corner, farthest from the crowd, sat Leo. Dressed in his usual faded black hoodie, he was completely absorbed in his laptop, his fingers flying across the keyboard. He didn't hear the footsteps approaching, nor did he notice the sudden hush that fell over the nearby tables.

Suddenly, a cold, sticky deluge of cola cascaded over Leo's head. The dark liquid soaked through his hood, dripping onto his keyboard and face.

Standing over him was Chase, the school's star athlete, wearing his bright blue varsity jacket. A malicious smile stretched across Chase's face as he leaned down, basking in the snickers of his watching friends.

"What's the matter, boy? Cat got your tongue?"

Under his hood, Leo's face was dripping wet. For a long second, his eyes remained closed. When they snapped open, they weren't filled with tears, but with a quiet, burning fury. Slowly, Leo stood up, towering slightly over Chase. The cafeteria went dead silent.

"Are you done?"

Leo asked, his voice steady, carrying a chilling authority that caught Chase off guard. Chase's smile faltered for a fraction of a second before he recovered his smug grin.

"Good,"

Chase replied, crossing his arms. Leo stared directly into Chase's eyes, his intense gaze unwavering as the sticky soda dripped from his chin.

"Now it's my turn,"

Leo whispered. Without another word, Leo slammed his laptop shut, wiped the screen with his sleeve, and walked out of the cafeteria, leaving a stunned crowd and a suddenly uneasy Chase behind.
