The Storm Outside and the Betrayal Within

The rain fell in relentless sheets, drumming a chaotic rhythm against the asphalt as Michael pulled his truck into the driveway. It had been a grueling twelve-hour shift, and all he wanted was to hug his six-year-old son, Owen, and fall into bed. But as he stepped out into the howling wind, a sound pierced through the storm—a faint, desperate crying. Michael’s heart seized. He rushed toward the back patio, his boots splashing through deep puddles.

There, shivering under the dim patio light, was Owen. The little boy was wearing his favorite Spider-Man costume, now soaked through and clinging to his tiny frame. He was banging his small, red-gloved fists against the heavy sliding glass door, his face streaked with tears and rain.

"Daddy! Daddy! Please let me in!"
he screamed, his voice cracking with terror.

Furious and terrified, Michael stripped off his distressed black leather jacket and wrapped it around his shivering son. He scooped Owen into his arms, shielding him from the freezing wind. He tried the handle of the sliding door, but it was locked tight. Rage boiling over, Michael kicked the door with all his might, shattering the lock, and burst into the warm living room.

He didn't stop to dry off. Holding his weeping son tight, Michael ran frantically up the wooden staircase, his boots leaving wet, heavy prints. The house was dimly lit, silent except for the storm. He reached the master bedroom and flung the door open with a violent crash.

The scene inside stopped him cold. His wife, Jessica, was in bed, but she wasn't alone. Another man was frantically pulling on his shirt. Michael stood in the doorway, dripping wet, his eyes burning with absolute fury.

"You locked him out!"
Michael roared, his voice shaking the walls. Jessica looked up, her face draining of color, frozen in stunned, guilty silence.
