The Soldier's Sudden Return

The grand marble hall of the Sterling estate was built to project power and prestige, but on this suffocating afternoon, it became a chamber of horrors. Clara Vance sat crumpled on the polished floor, her white linen dress stained and torn. Tears mixed with sweat and dust on her pale face as she clutched her side, screaming in sheer agony.

"Ahhhhh! Please, stop!" she cried out, her voice echoing off the high ceilings.

Standing over her was Victoria Sterling, the cold-hearted matriarch of the family. Dressed in an elegant mint green gown, Victoria’s face was twisted in a cruel sneer as she gripped a leather riding whip. Beside her stood Julian, Clara’s husband. Clad in a tailored steel blue suit, Julian clapped his hands and laughed, thoroughly amused by his wife's suffering. He had always been a coward, hiding behind his mother's wealth and authority.

Suddenly, the heavy arched oak doors burst open. Sergeant Leo Vance, Clara’s older brother, stepped into the hall. He had just returned from a grueling ten-month deployment overseas, still wearing his dusty digital camouflage uniform. He had planned to surprise his sister, a smile gracing his lips as he entered. But within a fraction of a second, that smile evaporated, replaced by a mask of absolute fury.

Taking in the horrific scene, Leo did not hesitate. He sprinted across the marble floor, his heavy combat boots echoing like thunder. Before Victoria could even raise her arm, Leo closed the distance. With a roar of rage, he grabbed the older woman by the throat, lifting her slightly off her feet. With unmatched military precision and strength, he slammed her against a massive white column. The plaster cracked with a loud boom, and Victoria collapsed to the floor, gasping for air as Julian’s laughter instantly died.
