The grand ballroom of the Sinclair Estate was bathed in warm, glowing light. Crystal chandeliers cast shimmering reflections across the polished marble floor where the city's elite mingled in designer gowns and tailored tuxedos. But the elegant symphony of clinking champagne glasses and soft laughter shattered in an instant when Penelope, clad in a dark purple silk gown, marched across the room. Her face was contorted with rage as she grabbed Lucy, a young waitress carrying a silver tray of appetizers.

"Tell them where you hid my necklace!"

Penelope demanded, her voice echoing off the high ceilings, drawing the immediate attention of the wealthy guests. Lucy, trembling in her modest catering outfit, dropped her tray. The sound of clattering silver silenced the room completely.

"I didn't steal anything, ma'am, I swear!"

she pleaded, tears immediately welling in her eyes. Penelope gripped Lucy's arm tighter, sneering as she pointed a manicured finger at the young woman.

"Girls like you always steal what you can't have. You saw the gold, you saw the diamonds, and you thought you could get away with it."

Sobbing, Lucy reached into her pocket. She didn't pull out Penelope's missing diamonds. Instead, she held up a delicate, tarnished silver heart-shaped necklace that she had worn under her collar.

"Please, check the engraving. This is mine. It belonged to my mother."

Before Penelope could snatch it away to throw it aside, an older man with distinguished grey hair stepped forward from the crowd. It was James, the prominent host of the gala. Clad in a sleek, custom tuxedo, he gently took the necklace from Lucy's trembling hands. He squinted at the worn metal, his breath catching in his throat.

"That engraving... only my wife had one like that."

He slowly raised his eyes from the silver heart, looking directly at Lucy's tear-stained face. He murmured, "My God, her face."
