A Nightmare on the Driveway

The gravel of the sprawling estate stung against Claire’s bare knees, but she barely felt the physical pain. All her focus was locked on the protective hand she had arched over her pregnant belly. Her teal dress, once a symbol of a happy celebration they were supposed to attend, was now stained with dust and tears. Above her stood Nicholas, the man she had promised to love forever, his face twisted in an unfamiliar, monstrous rage.

"You're done, Claire! You think you can just walk away with my child and my legacy?" Nicholas screamed, his fingers violently twisting into her hair, pulling her head back.

Claire cried out, the sheer terror robbing her of her breath. She looked up at the towering glass facade of their modern luxury mansion, realizing how empty and cold her perfect life had truly been. She was entirely isolated, trapped in a golden cage with a man who valued his public image far more than her life or the life of their unborn baby.

"Stop, please! Nicholas, you're hurting me!" she sobbed, her voice cracking under the weight of her despair.

But Nicholas only tightened his grip, his eyes cold and calculating. He believed he was invincible behind the high gates of their private estate. He didn't hear the roar of the engine or the screech of tires as a dark SUV tore up the driveway, throwing loose stones into the air. Before Nicholas could react, the car door flew open. A tall, silver-haired man in a dark grey wool coat stormed toward them. With a powerful, protective fury, the older man shoved Nicholas backward, breaking his grip on Claire.

"Get away from her!" Raymond bellowed, his voice echoing off the concrete walls.

Without waiting for a response, Raymond knelt down in the dust, wrapping his strong arms around Claire’s trembling shoulders, shielding her from her husband's wrath.
