My Wealthy Grandson Ordered Me To Leave His Wedding—Then My Husband Stepped In
The Golden Ballroom
The Grand Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was bathed in a warm, amber glow. Crystal chandeliers cast shimmering light over two hundred wealthy guests who had gathered to celebrate the union of Marcus Vance and Clara Sterling. It was the wedding of the year, a flawless display of high-society luxury. But behind the scenes, seventy-year-old Elena felt only the heavy ache in her joints as she worked her shift. Clad in a simple black dress and a crisp white apron, she kept her head down, trying to remain invisible.
Disaster struck just after the ceremony. A guest bumped into a waiter, sending a glass of rich red wine splashing across the pristine white runway. Knowing her job was on the line, Elena immediately dropped to her knees, scrubbing at the stain with a white cloth. Her hands shook with anxiety as she desperately tried to lift the deep red liquid from the fabric.
Suddenly, a shadow fell over her. Marcus, the groom, stood above her, his face flushed with irritation. The perfection of his big day had been marred, and he directed his frustration entirely at the elderly maid.
"You're ruining this wedding!" Marcus shouted, his voice cutting through the soft music. "Look at you, crawling around like an eyesore. Leave, now!"
Elena looked up, her eyes filling with tears. She felt the heavy gaze of the entire room on her. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She began to gather her cleaning supplies, preparing to leave in deep humiliation.
But before she could stand, an older gentleman stepped out of the crowd. It was David Vance, Marcus’s grandfather and the patriarch of the family. He looked down at Elena, but his eyes weren't filled with anger. Instead, they were locked onto the silver pendant hanging from her neck—a simple silver ring suspended on a thin chain.
"Stop," David commanded, his voice trembling. He knelt beside Elena, ignoring the whispers of the crowd. "That ring... where did you get it?"
Elena tried to cover the pendant, her heart hammering. "Please don't," she pleaded. But David gently took the silver ring in his hand, turning it over to read the engraved date. He gasped, his face turning pale. "My wife..." he whispered.
”"My wife..." he whispered.
