The Silver Locket That Stopped a Billionaire’s Grand Gala in Its Tracks

The grand ballroom of the Sterling Estate was a masterclass in high-society opulence. Crystal chandeliers hung from the vaulted ceilings, casting a warm, amber glow over the city’s elite. Women in designer gowns and men in tailored tuxedos laughed over bubbling champagne, celebrating the anniversary of the Sterling Foundation. At the center of it all sat Arthur Sterling, the venerable patriarch, alongside his younger daughter, Victoria, who looked breathtaking in an emerald green silk gown.

An Unexpected Guest

Suddenly, the heavy double doors at the back of the hall creaked open. The ambient noise of the banquet began to fade as guests noticed a strange, out-of-place figure stepping into the room.
