The Wooden Motorcycle

The afternoon sun was buried behind a thick blanket of gray clouds, casting a somber, natural light over the grassy field. Clay, a burly, bearded biker wearing a worn denim kutte, sat on the seat of his custom chopper. Around him, the members of the Iron Brotherhood were laughing, adjusting their engines, and enjoying a rare moment of peace. But the peace was shattered when a rustling sound came from the nearby tree line.

Out ran a little boy. He couldn't have been more than six years old. He had messy red hair, a dusty t-shirt, and his face was streaked with dirt and tears. He was running blindly, his small legs pumping until he tripped on a thick patch of grass and tumbled forward. He didn't cry out in pain. Instead, he scrambled to his knees, clutching a small object tightly to his chest.

"Please sir, buy it," the boy pleaded, his voice trembling as he looked up at Clay.

Clay felt a strange tug in his chest. He slowly knelt down on the damp grass, gesturing for his club members to stay back. He gently took the object from the boy's hands. It was a toy motorcycle, exquisitely hand-carved from dark cherry wood. It was incredibly detailed, but what caught Clay's eye was the small, carved signature on the bottom: a tiny crescent moon. Clay's breath hitched.

"Who made this?" Clay asked, his rough voice suddenly soft.

The boy wiped his tear-stained eyes with a dusty sleeve.

"My dad," he sobbed.

Clay studied the boy's face. The bright blue eyes, the stubborn set of his jawβ€”it was all too familiar.

"What's his name?" Clay asked, his heart hammering against his ribs.

The boy looked up, his lips trembling violently.

"He said if he died, I should find the biker who is my father. He said he has a silver eagle on his vest."
