The Shocking Discovery in the Driveway

David pulled his sedan into the gravel driveway of his suburban home, his mind occupied with the stressful legal documents he had forgotten on the kitchen counter. But the moment his tires crunched on the gravel, his thoughts evaporated. In the middle of the yard stood his wife, Clara, holding a heavy-duty green garden hose. She wasn't watering the flowerbeds. She was pointing the high-pressure nozzle directly over the head of his twelve-year-old daughter, Mia.

Mia sat shivering in her wheelchair, her blonde hair plastered to her face, crying hysterically as the cold water drenched her clothes. Clara's expression was chillingly detached, devoid of any empathy.

Panic seized David. He threw open the car door and sprinted across the lawn, shouting at the top of his lungs.

"What are you doing? Clara, stop!"

Clara didn't flinch. She slowly turned her gaze to him, her voice flat and eerily calm.

"I'm washing your daughter, David. She's dirty."

Rage flared in David's chest. He lunged forward, ripping the hose from Clara's grip and tossing it onto the grass. He shoved her back, his voice trembling with fury.

"Have you lost your mind? She is paralyzed! She can't move!"

David turned to scoop his sobbing, freezing daughter out of the wet chair. But before his hands could touch her shoulders, Mia did the impossible. Her legs, which doctors had declared useless three years ago after a devastating car crash, began to tremble. She gripped the plastic armrests, her knuckles turning white. Slowly, agonizingly, she pushed herself up.

David froze, his breath catching in his throat. He covered his mouth with a trembling hand, tears springing to his eyes.

"No... That's not possible," he whispered. "Mia, you're standing."

he whispered. "Mia, you're standing."
