The Humiliation in the Marble Hall

The grand hall of the estate was a masterpiece of white marble, soaring columns, and brilliant crystal chandeliers. Charlotte stood near the center of the room, her teal silk dress catching the light as she laughed with her high-society guests. She held her champagne flute high, basking in the envy of everyone present. To them, she was the wealthy heiress who had just acquired one of the most prestigious properties in the city. But to her stepsister, Natalie, she was a tormentor.

Natalie was not dressed in silk. She wore a simple, pale blue dress, her hands red and raw from hours of helping the catering staff. When a waiter accidentally knocked over a tray of red wine, staining the pristine marble floor, Charlotte saw her perfect opportunity. With a cruel smirk, she grabbed Natalie by the arm and shoved her toward the mess.

'Clean it up, Natalie,' Charlotte whispered, loud enough for the surrounding guests to hear. 'Show everyone what you're actually good at.'

Swallowing her pride, Natalie knelt on the wet floor, tears stinging my eyes as she began to scrub the stubborn red stain. The guests watched in amused silence, whispering behind their hands. But the cruel amusement was cut short when the heavy oak doors swung open. George, a powerful businessman dressed in a sharp grey tweed suit and carrying a dark leather case, stepped into the hall. He stopped in shock, his eyes locking onto Natalie kneeling on the floor.

Charlotte, completely misreading his expression, stepped forward with a smug smile. 'She's just doing what she's good at, cleaning,' she said, expecting him to join in on the humilation. Instead, George's face contorted with fury. He pulled out his phone, demanding, 'Cancel everything. Now!' As Charlotte gasped in shock, George looked at her with cold, dead eyes. 'This house is no longer yours,' he said, leaving Charlotte in utter disbelief as her champagne glass shattered on the floor.
