A Crimson Confrontation

The dining room of L'Étoile was a sanctuary of wealth and whispers, illuminated by the soft, amber glow of flickering candlelight. Sylvia adjusted the collar of her beige silk shirt, her hands trembling slightly as she walked beside Michael. For months, a mysterious illness had drained her strength, leaving her pale and fragile. Michael, her trusted physician and lifelong friend, had insisted that a night out might restore her spirits. But the moment they crossed the threshold, the warm atmosphere turned ice-cold.

Standing near a prominent corner table was Veronica, the restaurant's co-owner. She looked radiant yet predatory in a silver cocktail dress that shimmered like armor. Beside her sat Justin, Sylvia’s husband of ten years. He was dressed in a sharp black suit and bow tie, but his posture was completely defeated, his eyes fixed firmly on the polished mahogany table. He looked like a prisoner waiting for a sentence.

Before Sylvia could even speak, Veronica’s face twisted into an expression of pure malice. She stepped forward, pointing an aggressive, manicured finger toward the double doors.

blockquote>"Get out of my restaurant right now!" Veronica screamed, her voice cutting through the soft jazz playing in the background.

Sylvia gasped, turning to her husband for protection. "Justin, please," she whispered. But Justin remained motionless, his passive silence a devastating betrayal. The sheer shock and humiliation sent a wave of intense pressure to Sylvia's head. As tears of despair began to well in her eyes, a sharp, burning sensation flared behind her eyelids. She wiped her cheek, expecting saline, but her fingers came away coated in a thick, terrifying crimson. She was crying tears of pure blood.

Michael rushed forward, catching her as she stumbled. He stared at the red tracks staining her pale skin, his medical training failing to mask his sheer horror.

blockquote>"What is that?" Michael demanded, his voice echoing with dread.

Michael demanded, his voice echoing with dread.
